93rd National Communication Association Convention held in Chicago
Three professors receive awards
The accomplishments of three faculty members in the Department of Communication at Florida State University were recognized at the 93rd annual meetings of the National Communication Association, held in Chicago, Illinois from November 15 to 18, 2007.
Dr. Jonathan Adams was co-recipient of a Top Panel Award from the training and development Division for his role in a panel entitled, “Online or On the Way Out? The Status of Online Training as it is Perceived in Business and Industry.” On this panel, Dr. Peggy DeFleur of Louisiana State University and he co-authored the paper, “When the Gate Slams Shut: The Acceptability of Online Degrees in Business and Industry.”
Dr. Felecia Jordan won a Top Paper Award from the African-American Communication and Culture Division and Black Caucus for her paper, “A Worldview on Race and Gender: An Assessment of Verbal Aggression of Black and White Men and Women.” This paper was presented on the panel, “Changing Worlds with Faith, Intellect, and Ethics: Teaching Communication in the 21st Century.”
Professor Donna Nudd was given the Distinguished Service Award by the Performance Studies Division. This award “is the most prestigious award given by the division to one of its members.” It recognizes, “excellence in teaching, productions, performances, publications, service to the field, service to the division, and special performance.”
The National Communication Association, “works to enhance the research, teaching, and service produced by its members on topics of both intellectual and social significance. …[and] is the oldest and largest national organization to promote communication scholarship and education.”
