Research

The Department of Communication Disorders has developed a vibrant research community of faculty, staff, and students. Our sponsored research activity has grown to over $3 M per year in research and training contracts and grants. Many of our projects are interdisciplinary initiatives with local schools and hospitals. We collaborate with faculty in a number of departments and centers across campus. With our emphasis on clinical research, our scientists generate new knowledge of communication processes and develop innovative strategies for evaluating and managing communication disorders.

The vitality of our research programs is reflected in our growth in doctoral students and post-docs. We have over 20 full-time students devoted to developing their research careers.

We are especially proud of our students in the honors-in-the-major program. We have the largest percentage of students completing honor's theses than any department at FSU.

As you will see on our website, opportunities for students to get involved in research activities with our approachable scholars abound.
