Undergraduate students are assisted in choosing courses for their programs by faculty advisors and be the Department's Help Center. Program advising sheets map out the courses and options that students need to complete their studies.
Each graduate student is required to create a “program of study” in consultation with her/his advisory committee prior to the end of the first semester of her/his program. “Program of Study” form gives a complete listing of the courses that student has taken, is taking, or will be taking in order to receive her/his degree. The advising sheets for each major area provide an overview of the goals and requirements, but include choices of many optional courses. Program of Study is student’s individual plan. You may find program of study forms below:

If courses in the Program of Study are not available, or other courses are offered that student did not know about, it is possible to change Program of Study. Once the change is approved and signed by all the persons who signed the original Program of Study, the amendment will be placed in student’s file, which is kept by the Graduate Program Assistant.

The Department works with the FSU Career Center to provide information about professional career opportunities in the area of Communication. FSU Career Center is located at University Center, Suite A4100.
Most curricular options in the Department of Communication either require or recommend an internship. The internship is designed to provide the student with experience in a career setting, usually outside of the university. While some internship may offer the student a stipend, most are voluntary, unpaid activities.
The Department maintains a physical file containing requests for communication interns and some other opportunities are posted on bulletin boards in the Department office (University Center C, Suite 3100).
Each internship must have two supervisors, one on-the-job and the other from the faculty of the Department of Communication. The student is responsible for cooperation of both supervisors and obtaining their signatures on the internship contract. After the signatures are completed, the student makes three additional copies of the contract: one copy for the faculty sponsor; one copy for the on-the-job supervisor; and one copy for the student and bring the original and all three copies to the department office to receive a reference number to register for internship.
